We are seeking an organised, personable Senior Clinical Equipment Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team at Hamilton Specialist Referrals on a full-time basis. Located just outside High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, Hamilton Specialist Referrals (HSR) is a purpose-built, 24‑hour veterinary hospital equipped with state‑of‑the‑art facilities to deliver advanced treatments for cats and dogs, along with exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy services. Even as a large team, we are dedicated to fostering a friendly and supportive culture that emphasises growth, clinical excellence, and gold‑standard patient care.
How You’ll Make a Difference
- Manage the preparation, maintenance, cleaning, sterilisation, and storage of surgical kits and clinical equipment
- Support with the care and processing of flexible and rigid endoscopes in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and infection control protocols
- Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are available, functional, and ready for clinical use
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate servicing, repairs, and replacement when required
- Maintain accurate records relating to equipment maintenance, sterilisation cycles, and compliance requirements
- Support clinicians and veterinary nurses with theatre and procedural equipment requirements
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures relating to equipment handling and care
- Deliver on the job training and ongoing support to Veterinary Care Assistants on the correct use, handling, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment
- Assist with the induction and competency assessment of new team members
- Promote best practice in infection prevention, health and safety, and clinical governance
Working Pattern
- 4 × 9.25‑hour shifts per week, plus 30‑minute unpaid break
- 1 in 6 weekends, working 2 × 9‑hour shifts plus 30‑minute unpaid break
- Bank holiday cover on a rota, generally 2 per year
