We are seeking a professional, dedicated Multidisciplinary Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Moorview Referrals on a full-time basis. Moorview Referrals is a busy, purpose-built referral hospital located in beautiful Northumberland, within easy reach of the stunning coastline and the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our modern facility is equipped to the highest standards, including four operating theatres, CT and MRI scanners, multiple ultrasound machines and advanced endoscopy equipment.

We are a large, supportive clinical team delivering exceptional patient care across a wide range of disciplines, including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, ECC and cardiology. As an ISFM Gold Standard practice working towards zero pain certification, we are committed to continually raising standards in patient care.

This role will primarily rotate through the surgical departments, including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and neurology, alongside our kennel team, with occasional shifts supporting ECC and Medicine services.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Multidisciplinary Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences. You’ll deliver advanced nursing care to complex referral cases, supporting patients, clients and clinicians across a range of disciplines. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you’ll contribute to exceptional standards of patient care, support clinical decision-making and share knowledge with colleagues to continually improve outcomes and service delivery.

Working Pattern
  • 40 hours per week
  • Flexible rota between 8:00am and 8:00pm
  • Choice of 5 x 8-hour shifts or 4 x 10-hour shifts
  • 1 in 5 weekend rota consisting of two 12-hour shifts with time off in lieu
  • Participation in bank holiday and Christmas cover
  • Occasional support across additional departments when required
General Responsibilities
  • Diagnostic imaging including CT and radiography
  • Monitoring anaesthesia for a variety of referral procedures
  • Inpatient care including medication administration, patient monitoring and exercise
  • Preparing and discharging patients
  • Providing perioperative rehabilitation support
  • Preparing patients for theatre
  • Scrubbing into procedures where required
  • Delivering advanced nursing care across a range of referral disciplines

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement
  • Experience in surgery and anaesthesia, including more complex cases
  • A passion for delivering exceptional patient care
  • An interest in developing skills in anaesthesia, analgesia, radiography and advanced imaging

Referral experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applications from RVNs of all backgrounds, and our experienced team will provide full training and support to help you succeed.
