At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Market Vets is looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Director of Practice to lead two closely located practices and play a pivotal role in their continued growth and success.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader who enjoys balancing people, performance and business strategy. You don’t need a clinical background; what matters is your ability to lead and develop teams, identify commercial opportunities and deliver strong operational and financial performance.

You’ll lead a team of more than 40 colleagues across reception, administration, client care, veterinary and nursing teams, creating an environment where people feel supported, engaged and motivated to perform at their best.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As Director of Practice, you’ll have overall responsibility for the operational, commercial and people performance of both practices, working in partnership with the Clinical Directors to deliver excellent patient and client care alongside sustainable business performance.

With strong competition in the local market, you’ll use your commercial insight to identify opportunities for growth, strengthen client engagement and retention, and ensure both practices continue to thrive.

You’ll take ownership of the full P&L, annual business planning and budgetary performance while setting the strategic direction of the practices and developing a positive, high-performing culture across the teams.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the operational, commercial and financial performance of both practices, working in partnership with the Clinical Directors to achieve business and clinical objectives
* Take ownership of P&L performance, annual business planning and budget management
* Identify commercial opportunities and drive sustainable business growth within a competitive local market
* Build, engage and develop a high-performing team of more than 40 colleagues across clinical and non-clinical functions
* Lead resource planning, performance management, coaching and colleague development
* Support excellent client engagement, retention and overall client experience
* Ensure high standards of clinical governance, regulatory compliance and patient care in partnership with clinical leadership
* Drive continuous improvement and support the implementation of wider business initiatives and best practice
* Champion a safe, compliant and collaborative working environment across both practices

Working Pattern

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility around working hours between 8:30am and 6:00pm.
You’ll spend time across both practices, which are conveniently located close to one another.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are an experienced operational leader with strong commercial acumen and a people-centred approach to leadership. You’ll bring:

* Proven experience in a leadership role with accountability for operational and commercial performance
* Strong financial and business management capability, including experience of budgeting, business planning and P&L oversight
* The ability to identify commercial opportunities and translate them into sustainable business growth
* Experience leading, engaging and developing large multidisciplinary teams
* Strong coaching and people management skills with the ability to build a positive, high-performing culture
* Experience leading through change and driving continuous improvement
* Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
* A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively alongside clinical leadership
