Here at Axe Valley Veterinary Practice, we are looking for an enthusiastic Animal Nursing Assistant to join our team. The position will include a range of responsibilities, such as assisting the Vets and Nurses with animal care and husbandry, clinic cleanliness including daily and deep cleaning, inpatient care, and laboratory work. The role will involve working across multiple sites.
The practice is well‑equipped with a supportive and friendly team. We have extensive diagnostic and clinical tools, including endoscopy, ultrasonography, digital radiography (including dental radiography), in‑house laboratory and much more! We are based in rural Somerset with lots of lovely walks on the doorstep in Blackford and a stroll to the beach in Weston.
Ideally, candidates will have previous animal experience and 5 GCSEs at grade 4-9 or C or above. Animal Care qualifications are desirable. Experience working with animals is essential, ideally with some experience working in a clinical environment. Remain calm and focused under pressure, with a caring and empathetic approach to your work. A strong team player with confident and effective communication skills.
Your shift: This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. Shifts are 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, ranging from 7:30 am to 7 pm with a 1‑hour unpaid lunch break. Weekends on a rota basis, Saturday 8:30 am – 1 pm. Sunday 8:30 am - 10:30 am.
