Full‑time Registered Veterinary Nurse at Avondale Vets, located within the Strathaven Rural Centre. Our practice offers a purpose‑built environment, a diverse caseload across small animal, farm animal, equine and export services, and advanced laparoscopic surgical equipment. We are committed to ongoing professional development, supporting staff in pursuing advanced qualifications and in‑house services such as TPLO procedures.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As an integral member of the clinical team, you will deliver high‑quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences. You’ll collaborate with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, manage nursing care for a range of first‑opinion cases, and contribute to clinical standards and ongoing development of patient care.

Working Pattern

  • 38 hours per week
  • Two 8:00 am–7:00 pm shifts each week
  • Two 8:00 am–5:30 pm shifts each week
  • One Saturday in four rota

General Responsibilities

  • Conduct nurse consultations and provide inpatient medical care
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures, including cytology and urinalysis
  • Undertake dental nursing duties including dental radiography, scaling and polishing
  • Utilise and develop a broad range of nursing skills in a supportive clinical environment
  • Focus on clinical responsibilities with support from a dedicated reception team and pharmacy dispenser

We’re looking for a confident and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a team and delivering high standards of care.

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement
