A rare opportunity to join a long established, small animal practice. Following the retirement of our Group Practice Manager, we are delighted to offer a rare opportunity for a dedicated and people focused individual to join Crossways Veterinary Group as our new Practice Manager. This is a pivotal role within a supportive, close knit team and a practice with over 40 years of history in the local community.
This is a largely site based, people facing role covering all three branches, with your main base at Storrington where our operations and surgical facilities are located. The remaining two sites are consulting only branches. You will have line management responsibility for approximately 28 team members, making leadership, communication, and relationship building central to your success.
Located on the edge of the South Downs National Park, on the south coast of England, Crossways Veterinary Group enjoys a unique setting, close to Brighton and within easy reach of London. We provide a full range of services, from preventive healthcare and routine surgery to advanced diagnostics, always tailoring our approach to the individual needs of our patients and clients. We are proud to have many loyal clients and to be actively involved in the communities we serve, supporting a range of local events.
This role is available for up to 40 hours per week, typically worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday, 9am-6pm. However, we are very open to discussing flexible/reduced hours or fewer days for the right candidate. The role is mainly site based but we can offer occasional admin time at home.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading, supporting, and motivating the practice team to foster a positive and collaborative working environment
- Maintaining practice standards and ensuring compliance with RCVS guidelines
- Financial management, including managing a practice budget, stock control, initiating capital expenditure requests, supporting payroll production and queries
- Human Resources responsibilities, including line management, appraisals, staff rotas
- Oversight of building and equipment maintenance across all three sites
- Ensuring Health & Safety compliance with team support
- Recruitment and monitoring of mandatory and ongoing training compliance
- Acting as the first point of contact for IT queries (with support from a central IT function)
- Handling and resolving client complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Attending and leading practice and area meetings
