The predicted salary is between 11 - 16 £ per hour.
We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic individual to join our reception team. As the first point of contact for our clients and their pets, our ideal candidate is accustomed to working well in a team but also able to work independently in sub-branches. We have three branches locally, so the ability to drive is necessary. We are looking for someone who is empathetic and has the ability to stay calm under pressure. They will also need to be flexible and able to help provide cover for holidays and sickness across all three of our branches.
The Main Duties Of This Position Include:
- Dealing with clients in person or by telephone/email for bookings and general enquiries.
- Seeing through the client journey in practice, from greeting on arrival to booking future appointments and offering pets a treat on their way out.
- Using our veterinary practice management software to manage the diary and maintain accurate client and animal records.
- Taking prescription requests and putting together dispensed orders for the clinical team to check.
- Taking payments and running the end-of-day banking.
- Animal handling, particularly in sub-branches where the vets may require receptionist help. Training will be provided, but a calm and confident approach to animal handling is required.
- Keeping reception areas clean, tidy, and stocked, and being responsible for end-of-day cleaning when working in a sub-branch.
- Confidence in promoting our healthcare plan and understanding the importance of maintaining up-to-date routine healthcare for our clients’ pets’ well-being.

More about you:
Clinical training is not required for this position; however, working in a veterinary practice can be a busy and challenging environment with no two days the same. Therefore, a can-do attitude and the ability to think quickly and adapt to situations are desirable. Previous telephone handling or customer service experience is beneficial, although on-the-job training will be provided. The successful candidate will be personable, professional, a good communicator, computer literate, and eager to learn.
Shift pattern:
Your shift pattern will entail working Monday 1 pm–7 pm Salisbury, Tuesday 1 pm–7 pm Amesbury, Wednesday 9 am–2 pm Salisbury, Thursday 8 am–1 pm Amesbury, and Friday 1 pm–7 pm Amesbury.
