Overview

Registered Veterinary Nurse – Admit/Discharge. We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse who has an empathetic approach to patient care and exceptional client communication skills, to join our dynamic team as an Admit/Discharge Nurse, and be at the forefront of ensuring a seamless experience for our clients whilst upholding our high standards of patient care.

Coordinating a seamless client experience. This vital role within our Wards team is perfect for a caring and communicative RVN who is passionate about patient care and client support.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Admissions: Admit cases, meeting with clients and patients upon arrival to discuss upcoming procedures, ensuring all necessary preparations are completed smoothly and in line with company SOPs.
  • Discharge Support: Guide clients through patient care plans during discharge, including medication instructions, rehabilitation techniques, and aftercare details, addressing any questions to ensure they feel confident managing care at home.
  • Client Communication: Act as a compassionate point of contact, keeping clients informed on patient treatments and progress, and responding to questions about their pet\\\’s care while in hospital.

About SCVS

SCVS are a specialist-led small animal hospital equipped with the expertise and knowledge to support the most complex of cases. As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we offer impressive facilities and state-of-the-art equipment which enable us to provide outstanding treatment to our patients from the initial consultation right through to discharging them from our care. We are conveniently based in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31.

Our recent expansion has provided us with a new purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility housing a large client reception and waiting area, 10 new consulting rooms, along with a new rehabilitation centre. The improvements do not stop here, with further additions to include a new diagnostic suite and ICU area, plus much more.

We have an outstanding team of recognised specialists across a multitude of disciplines. We also have a dedicated rehabilitation team who provide physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to aide post-operative recovery. The care and comfort of our patients is always at the front of our minds. Our advanced nursing team provide excellent care to all patients during their stay at SCVS. We also have a team of dedicated veterinary care assistants to ensure patients feel reassured and comforted during their stay.

Ideal candidate / Qualifications

  • You must be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • This role will suit a confident nurse with the ability to coordinate the flow of patients into and out of the hospital from all disciplines
  • We are looking for a dynamic individual with high attention to detail and an empathetic approach to patient care.
  • You should possess the confidence to take initiative and actively contribute to the care of our patients.
  • An interest in client liaison and wards nursing is essential.
  • Previous experience in a referral practice is beneficial.

Working hours

This role is 35hrs/week, working 7am-6:30pm Wednesday-Friday, plus 1:4 Saturdays 7am-4pm.
