Our veterinary hospital is one of the largest multidisciplinary referral hospitals in the UK, treating up to 10,000 pets a year with state‑of‑the‑art equipment. We provide services in Anaesthesia & Analgesia, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, ECC, Internal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopaedics & Soft Tissue Surgery. Blaise offers a specialist‑led 24‑hour emergency and critical care service in partnership with Vets Now, delivering out‑of‑hours and emergency pet care for Birmingham and surrounding areas.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As an Out of Hours Veterinary Nurse you will deliver advanced nursing care within a busy OOH service, supporting complex cases in an emergency setting. You’ll work collaboratively within a large team, contributing specialist nursing expertise to patient care, supporting clinical decision‑making, and sharing knowledge with colleagues to continually improve standards within your discipline.
Role
This full‑time role follows a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (20:00‑07:25), averaging 40 hrs a week. Your responsibilities will include:
- Emergency triage and procedure nursing.
- Inpatient care within our ICU, general, and isolation wards.
- Monitoring anaesthesia for emergency surgeries.

- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS.
- Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced nursing skills in OOHs, inpatient care, and/or ECC.
- Experience working with complex emergency cases in a hospital setting.
