We are seeking an experienced and driven Lead Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our progressive, client-focused practice. The role offers a Monday to Friday schedule of 8am to 5pm with 1 in 4 weekends on call, and days off in lieu.

As Lead Veterinary Surgeon you will lead clinical standards, governance, and patient/client care. You will provide clinical leadership, oversee complex cases, and serve as the primary source of clinical guidance. You will work closely with senior leadership to support strategic direction and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional clinical care across a varied equine caseload
  • Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to the equine team
  • Drive the development and expansion of equine services
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients

Ideal Fit & Qualifications
  • MRCVS registered with substantial equine veterinary experience
  • Established or aspiring leader with strong mentoring and team‑building skills
  • Confident in both routine and emergency equine work
  • Excellent communicator with a client‑focused mindset
  • Motivated, proactive, and committed to high clinical standards
  • Interest in developing specific clinical areas or services welcomed
  • Veterinary degree and RCVS registration with significant small or mixed animal practice experience, advanced surgical and medical capability
  • Proven experience mentoring, coaching, supporting veterinary colleagues
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills
  • Experience in clinical governance, audits, quality improvement initiatives
  • Ability to manage clinical complaints and provide guidance in complex situations
  • Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the highest standards of patient and client care
