Join IVC Evidensia as the new Head of Laboratory Services. This senior leadership role will lead the laboratory team, grow services both in‑house and at our referral practices, and strengthen our position as a leading equine hospital in Newbury, West Berkshire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Laboratory Technicians to deliver a first‑class service to our 50 Veterinary Surgeons and wider referral network.
  • Expand and manage the laboratory portfolio of tests, ensuring up‑to‑date equipment and working practices.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement, training, and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Collaborate with Internal Medicine/Pathology clinicians and other clinical staff.
  • Represent the laboratory in senior leadership meetings and provide strategic input.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience within a busy veterinary laboratory handling equine samples or in a clinical setting.
  • Registered with the Royal Veterinary College (MRCVS) and board‑eligible or holding Specialist Status in Internal Medicine or Pathology.
  • Strong communication and line‑management skills.
  • Experience managing a laboratory team.
