Salary up to £80,000 pro rata DOE. At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners. Manor Vets is a well-established small animal mid-tier referral practice based in the Midlands. The main surgery has a CT scanner and all full surgical facilities. There are a further 5 branches that all have surgical facilities, but will feed into the main hospital for more complex surgery. Manor has a large team of employees (120+) so excellent HR skills and high EQ is essential.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As the Director of Practice you will work closely with 2 experienced Clinical Directors and two Head Nurses, to lead and support a dedicated team of 120 including vets, nurses and our valued support network, ensuring consistency and excellence across all 6 locations. You’ll set and execute the strategic direction of the practices, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the delivery of high standards across operations, client experience, and business performance. This role plays a critical part in shaping culture, driving results, and supporting sustainable growth.

Working Pattern

  • 40 hours per week across 4 or 5 days a week (dependent on your preference)
  • Must be able to work a Friday
  • No weekends
  • On call rota 1 in 6 weekends (Not required in practice)
  • One late night per week until 7.30pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall accountability for the performance, strategy, and culture of the practices and hospital, balancing clinical excellence with strong operational and commercial outcomes.
  • Set the strategic direction of the practices, and ensure the delivery of outstanding patient and client care alongside sustainable business performance.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of the annual business plan, driving sustainable growth while engaging the wider team to contribute ideas, provide feedback, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor, analyse, and communicate both practice and individual performance, actively sharing best practice and contributing to the overall success of the wider area.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through regular development discussions, performance management, and ongoing team support.
  • Providing an exceptional client experience by driving client engagement, promoting service excellence, and ensuring high standards are delivered consistently in every interaction.
  • Take full accountability for the financial performance of the practice, including management of the P&L, delivering against budgets, and meeting all financial management requirements.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

  • You are an experienced operational leader with strong commercial acumen and a people-centred leadership approach.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role with accountability for operational and commercial performance, ideally within healthcare, veterinary, or service-led environments but not essential.
  • Strong financial and business management capability, including experience with planning and P&L oversight.
  • The ability to lead, engage, and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience leading through change and driving cultural or transformational initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
