We are proud to announce that we are now inviting applications for a Small Animal Neurology Intern. This role is the perfect opportunity to work alongside two highly experienced Neurology Diplomates and expand your skills, knowledge, and clinical experience. This internship would be best suited to someone looking to pursue a Neurology residency next year.
The role consists of varying shifts to suit the needs of a busy multidisciplinary hospital and includes care of in-house patients outside of normal working hours and on selected weekends and nights. Active involvement in client communication and patient care is expected, along with participation in consults and medical and surgical case management.
Hamilton Specialist Referrals is an established multi-disciplinary veterinary hospital that provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for small animals, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility. Located in modern facilities in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and within easy reach of London, Oxford, the Chilterns and the Cotswolds, the hospital operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Facilities include on-site 1.5T MRI and CT scanner suites, multiple operating theatres, several hospitalisation areas including a high-dependency unit (HDU), joint replacement systems, electrodiagnostic equipment and a full complement of the latest radiography and arthroscopy equipment.
Interns are encouraged to engage openly in case discussions with senior supervising clinicians, residents and the senior nursing team, and should contribute to a positive, informative, respectful, and inclusive environment for all. Attention to detail, including maintaining accurate records and written correspondence, is also a key component of this role. The internship runs for 12 months and covers varying shifts to suit the needs of the hospital, including one in four weekend cover for Neurology and HDU services, and occasional out-of-hours work.
