At Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists, you’ll become part of a leading multidisciplinary referral hospital, working alongside an experienced specialist‑led team across a wide range of disciplines including Surgery, Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology and Diagnostic Imaging. Working closely with the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, this is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a dedicated Small Animal Pain Management Clinic within a progressive referral setting, delivering evidence‑based care for complex referral cases.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As part of our multidisciplinary referral team, you will deliver advanced pain management care for a wide range of complex medical, surgical, neurological and orthopaedic cases. Working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple disciplines, you’ll play an important role in improving patient comfort, mobility and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver a small animal referral pain management clinic alongside the physiotherapy and rehabilitation team
  • Assess and manage acute and chronic pain in complex referral cases
  • Design and implement multimodal pain management plans tailored to individual patients, including complementary therapies such as acupuncture
  • Collaborate with specialists across Surgery, Medicine, Oncology, Neurology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology and Diagnostic Imaging
  • Provide detailed case communication and follow‑up support to referring veterinary practices
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of pain management protocols and services within the practice
  • Build strong relationships with clients and referring veterinary surgeons to support the continued growth of the clinic

We’re looking for a clinician with a passion for pain management and rehabilitation, who enjoys collaborative working within a specialist referral environment. You’ll bring the following skills and experience:

  • A veterinary degree with RCVS registration, or eligibility for registration
  • Demonstrated experience in small animal chronic pain management
  • Postgraduate training or certification in pain management, anaesthesia and/or rehabilitation
  • Experience in complementary therapies such as acupuncture
  • Strong communication skills, particularly when supporting clients managing chronic painful conditions and long‑term treatment plans
  • A collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working within a multidisciplinary team
  • A commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous clinical improvement
