We’re looking for a Small Animal Consult-Only Vet to join our warm, supportive team at our newly refurbished Crewkerne branch in beautiful South Somerset. Here, your passion for client care and problem-solving will be truly valued, and your work-life balance will always be respected.
About the Practice
A Modern Practice with a Heart for the Community. Crewkerne branch has been refurbished and offers two modern operating theatres, a fully equipped dental suite with digital dental X-ray, a large prep area, an imaging suite, and separate wards for cats and dogs. Dedicated isolation unit, spacious dispensary, three consult rooms, and a calm reception with separate cat and dog waiting areas. Staff rest area with a well-stocked biscuit tin.
Your Day-to-Day
We mainly treat dogs and cats, with occasional rabbits, guinea pigs or ferrets to add variety. As a consult-only vet, your days will focus on delivering exceptional care and building strong client relationships without surgical pressures. You’ll manage a varied caseload including routine health checks, vaccinations, post-op reviews, and medical case management. Consult rooms are well-equipped, and our experienced nursing team provides ongoing support. You’ll have time and space to give each patient the attention they deserve, with a friendly, knowledgeable team to discuss cases.
Team and Support
Kingfisher Vets offers a collaborative environment with a team of 6 experienced vets (one with a certificate in Small Animal Medicine), 18 RVNs, 2 student nurses, and a strong support team of receptionists, admin, and a practice manager. Regular visits from an orthopaedic surgeon provide access to additional in-house expertise. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do, with a culture of caring for colleagues, clients, and patients.
Work-Life Balance and Flexibility
We value work-life balance with a flexible rota pattern and working hours that adapt to your lifestyle. The role is available for part-time hours with a share of Saturday morning (8:30 – 13:00). There are no OOH shifts.
