We are seeking an enthusiastic, team‑orientated Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team at Moorview Referrals on a full‑time basis. Moorview Referrals is a multi‑disciplinary, purpose‑built veterinary referral hospital based in Cramlington, Northumberland. Our team comprises over 100 team members, ranging from experienced veterinary surgeons to front‑of‑house teams and administrators, all with the sole goal of delivering our purpose – Healthy animals and happy owners. We pride ourselves on the high level of patient and client care we provide.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the clinical team to deliver high standards of patient and client care, while helping to ensure the practice environment runs smoothly and safely. Working under the direction of a veterinary surgeon or registered veterinary nurse, you'll support inpatient care, assist with patient handling and restraint, help maintain clinical areas and equipment, and contribute to a positive and compassionate experience for both patients and clients. This is a 12 month FTC working full time 40 hours a week. You'll work a variety of shifts on a rotating basis which will be either 4×10 hour shifts or 5×8 hour shifts alongside 1:4 weekends with TOIL. Occasional bank holiday cover also required.

General Responsibilities Include

  • Assisting in hydrotherapy
  • Supporting the clinical team with daily operational tasks
  • Preparing and maintaining consultation rooms
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Assisting with stock control and restocking supplies
  • Sterilising equipment and maintaining clinical equipment
  • Handling and caring for animals with confidence and compassion
  • Supporting reception with bookings and telephone calls when required
