Kernow Vets are looking for a confident Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and experienced team in Bodmin.

This is a varied ambulatory and clinic-based role, working with a wide range of cases from colic and lameness to wound management and sarcoid treatments. Our clients include everything from competition horses to happy hackers and breeders, ensuring no two days are the same. You’ll be well supported by visiting specialists in surgery and equine dentistry, alongside excellent facilities including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, gastroscopy, surgical laser and portable X-ray equipment. Our site also offers access to hospital facilities, theatre, stocks, a lunge pen and stabling.

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload. You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

Role Specifics

  • Full‑time: 40 hours per week over four days with one day off each week; part‑time candidates are also welcome.
  • Share of weekend and out‑of‑hours rota: 1:4.
  • Fixed‑term contract for nine months.
