Overview

We are looking to expand our team and are seeking enthusiastic Yard Assistants to join our busy and dedicated team at our equine hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Daily care of the horses, including feeding, mucking out, and grooming.
  • Yard maintenance to ensure a clean and safe environment for both the horses and staff.
  • Admit and discharge in-patients, ensuring all client paperwork is completed accurately.
  • Full training will be provided to ensure you can carry out all duties effectively.

About the practice

Donnington Grove Veterinary Group are a busy Equine Hospital based in Newbury Berkshire. Our main Hospital has RCVS Tier 3 hospital status and is based in Newbury, which is a thriving town in West Berkshire, with many restaurants and only a 45-minute train journey to London Paddington. Situated on the edge of the North Wessex Downs AONB, it also provides beautiful local countryside for long walks with our canine friends. The Branches at Tadley and Thatcham are both located within a short distance of Newbury and are fully equipped for surgical procedures and digital diagnostic imaging.

About you

We are looking for someone with strong horse handling skills and experience working with a variety of horses. A genuine passion for working with horses and a commitment to providing them with the best care is essential. The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently as part of a team in a busy, fast-paced environment. If you have the necessary skills and enthusiasm to contribute to the care of our horses, we would love to hear from you!

Your shift pattern

This is a full-time role covering a variety of shifts over 5 days per week (Tuesday – Saturday), including weekends and bank holidays on a rota. Overtime is paid for weekend work.
