Veterinary Referral Clinician – Surgery – Soft Tissue
Join to apply for the Veterinary Referral Clinician – Surgery – Soft Tissue role at IVC Evidensia UK
We are seeking a residency-trained or board-certified (ECVS/ACVS) Soft Tissue Surgeon to join our growing specialist-led team at Swift Referrals in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and hold, or be eligible for, membership of the RCVS.
Swift Referrals is a multidisciplinary small animal referral practice offering services in internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. We also run a first opinion out of hours service for neighbouring practices. We are in Wetherby, West Yorkshire with easy access to York, Harrogate and Leeds as well as the beautiful and uncrowded Northeast coast, the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.
We offer flexibility in our shift patterns to ensure a healthy work-life balance, including a 4-day work week. We understand the value of your expertise and commitment, which is why we offer great salaries.
As our soft tissue referral surgeon, you will work alongside our existing team of highly skilled specialists and hospital clinicians. You would be jointly responsible for attending to soft tissue surgery cases referred to us by practices throughout Northern and Central England. Procedures undertaken within the hospital include thoracotomies, BOAS procedures, complex abdominal surgeries (including gall bladder mucoceles), oncological resections, reconstructive skin flaps and more. Participation in in-house and external CPD is strongly encouraged.
Be part of an advanced team. We have a large team of talented veterinary professionals including Diplomates and certificate holders across surgery and internal medicine, supported by around 45 nurses (including dedicated night nurses), 6 hospital clinicians, and a committed client care team. The hospital is fully equipped with advanced facilities including:
- 128-slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI
- Dedicated soft tissue and orthopaedic theatres
- Full endoscopy suite
- Digital radiography and ultrasonography
- Fully stocked in-house laboratory
- Large intensive care facility with 24/7 veterinary and nursing supervision
A great work pattern for a real work-life balance. This is a full-time, permanent position with a 4-day work week (10 hours per day, 8am–6pm). On-call is shared within the team, currently structured as 2 nights per week and 1:3 weekends. With a dedicated Out of Hours team, this commitment is primarily to provide support to hospital clinicians, rather than routine on-site attendance. We are committed to supporting flexible working patterns where appropriate and would be happy to discuss individual requirements.
What you need to join our team.
- Residency-trained or board-certified (ECVS/ACVS) surgeon
- Significant experience in soft tissue surgery within a referral setting
- A collaborative, supportive and team-focused approach
Above all, we are looking for a surgeon who values excellent patient care, client communication, and teamwork within a multidisciplinary hospital.
Why choose us? We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. We are committed to the wellbeing and development of our team and regularly have in-house CPD sessions, as well as fun team-building activities and treats.
