Abbey Vet Clinic in Arbroath is looking for an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for a clinician ready to take on more responsibility, mentor recent graduates, and continue developing their own skills in a well-established practice.
You’ll have clinical freedom, a varied caseload, and opportunities to specialise—whether that’s studying for a certificate, offering specialist services, or advancing your surgical expertise. We also work closely with Cats Protection, running a dedicated cat clinic. Our caseload includes a mix of medical and surgical cases such as routine neuterings, pyometras, lump removals, GI foreign bodies, and dentistry. If you have a particular area of interest, we’d love to support you in developing it further.
We are a small animal practice with a small number of exotics and work closely with our sister practice, Robson Vets in Laurencekirk, who are also recruiting. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.
We work 40 hours over a 4/5 day week with Saturday mornings shared on an equal rota however we are open to flexible working or part time hours for the right candidate. No OOH requirement.
What you’ll be stepping into
We have two well-established branches located in the picturesque towns of Arbroath and Forfar. These vibrant communities offer the perfect blend of coastal beauty and countryside charm, with Arbroath’s seaside views and Forfar’s hills, providing a peaceful yet engaging environment for both work and leisure.
Both branches are fully equipped with the latest veterinary tools, including iM3 dental machines, digital radiology, and IDEXX biochemistry and haematology equipment. We are committed to ongoing investment in our facilities. We have recently installed a brand-new dental x-ray machine in our Arbroath branch to further enhance our dentistry services.
Arbroath offers a vibrant coastal lifestyle, with beautiful beaches, historical landmarks, and a lively town atmosphere. It\’s perfect for those who enjoy outdoor activities and the peace and beauty of nature while still having access to great local amenities. With our central location, you’ll enjoy everything Angus and Dundee have to offer. Our team currently consists of 4 experienced vets and 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs), who have taken a hands-on role, running their own clinics. Our RVNs excel in a range of services, including nail clipping, post-op discharges and examinations, blood pressure monitoring, and blood sampling. We truly value nurse-led initiatives and the integral role our RVNs play in patient care.
