Overview
We have an exciting opportunity within our nursing team at Pride Veterinary Referrals for a compassionate and confident RVN to join us as a Referral Theatre Veterinary Nurse. Join the Pride Veterinary Referrals Team and Unlock New Opportunities. As part of a dedicated team of skilled anaesthetists and nurses, you\’ll work closely with specialist referral clinicians from various disciplines such as surgery, medicine, ophthalmology, and neurology. You\’ll provide anaesthesia and sedation support across different services. Your role will involve a blend of anaesthesia and theatre duties, contributing to the smooth operation of the department. You will be fully supported by our experienced team of nurses and anaesthetists, helping you develop your referral nursing skills. We are committed to maintaining a friendly, supportive environment focused on delivering the highest standard of care and providing excellent professional development opportunities for our RVNs to pursue further qualifications.
About You
We are looking for a team-oriented Registered Veterinary Nurse with a keen interest in anaesthesia and theatre work. Previous experience of working in a referral theatre would be an asset but not essential. Some anaesthesia and theatre experience is essential. You must possess excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Working Hours
This is a full-time role working a 4-day week, averaging 38 hours, with 1 in 6 weekends (Saturday & Sunday, 9:00am-5:45pm). Shifts typically run from 7:30am to 7:30pm. There is also an on-call rota for referral anaesthesia/theatre cases, with an increased hourly rate for callouts.
About Pride Veterinary Referrals
Pride Veterinary Referrals is a modern veterinary hospital featuring spacious wards, five theatres, and a comprehensive imaging suite. Our facility is equipped with the latest technology to diagnose, treat, and provide post-operative care for our patients. We have dedicated consultation rooms for each discipline and a separate, comfortable waiting area for clients. Our imaging suite includes CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and digital x-ray, all connected to spacious, well-equipped theatres. Our ICU is staffed by experienced nurses around the clock, ensuring high-dependency patients receive the best care. We have separate wards for dogs and cats, both temperature-controlled with ambient lighting at night. The ICU also has a dedicated isolation ward for contagious patients. Additionally, our exotics consultation room and ward are run by a specialist exotics team. We also offer a rehabilitation suite for surgical and neurological patients, featuring a hydrotherapy pool, treadmill, and extensive physiotherapy equipment.
