Pride Veterinary Centre, Derby is seeking an experienced Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated Vets at Night team. If you are passionate about emergency and critical care and thrive in a fast‑paced hospital environment, this is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills within a highly supportive team.

Working a highly desirable 7 on, 14 off rota, you will benefit from genuine work‑life balance while gaining exposure to a varied and rewarding caseload.

Role Details

Night work focuses solely on emergency and inpatient care. There are no routine appointments, and cases are either emergency presentations or hospitalised patients requiring overnight monitoring and treatment. You will rotate through ICU, small dog, large dog and cat wards, with some exposure to isolation and exotic patients. This is a hands‑on, varied role where nurses play a vital part in patient outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting Veterinary Surgeons with medical and surgical procedures
  • Supporting and teaching Veterinary Surgeon students from the University of Nottingham
  • Performing Schedule 3 procedures in line with experience
  • Telephone and in‑person triage
  • Caring for critically ill and hospitalised patients
  • Performing anaesthesia for emergency cases
  • Working independently when required
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and administering medications

You will work alongside 2 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 Nurses and 2 VCAs each rotation, building strong working relationships within a consistent and cohesive team.

What We’re Looking ForEssential
  • RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Minimum of 2 years post‑graduate experience
  • Strong core nursing and customer service skills
  • Passion for emergency and critical care
  • Confidence in triage and anaesthesia
  • Ability to prioritise and delegate effectively
