Overview of the Registered Veterinary Nurse - Lead Theatre Nurse role at IVC Evidensia UK in the Hertfordshire area. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) offering leadership and coordination responsibilities in a busy, multi-disciplinary veterinary hospital. Shifts are 8-hour, typically starting at 8:00am, with occasional later shifts about once every six weeks. You will participate in a Saturday rota (one in six weekends).

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Coordinate surgical activities and ensure the smooth, efficient running of the surgical theatres.
  • Mentor and support the nursing team; maintain surgical equipment and manage stock and consumables.
  • Liaise with veterinarians and reception to optimize scheduling, maintain accurate theatre records, and ensure seamless patient flow.
  • Work across a varied caseload including orthopaedics, soft tissue, and emergency surgery.

About You:

Experienced RVN with a minimum of 3 years in a hospital or surgical setting. You should be confident in anaesthesia, surgical preparation, and post-operative care, with excellent communication skills and a passion for continuous improvement. Previous leadership experience is an advantage, but training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
