We are looking for an enthusiastic veterinary surgeon to join our well-equipped, large, 1st opinion practice based in Andover, Hampshire. We are situated in a rural town just off of the A303 with good links to London, coastal areas and countryside. We are also close to several larger cities such as Salisbury, Southampton and Winchester and are approximately an hour away from Southampton and London Heathrow airports. The Andover area is affordable to live in and the practice is a five-minute walk to the town centre. There are multiple big supermarkets in the area, a cinema, bowling alley, several pubs and restaurants and nightlife. Public transport is good with a large bus station and a train station with direct trains to London Waterloo.
Proud to Be Part of IVC Evidensia. At IVC Evidensia, we’re driven by the passion and commitment of our people - across clinical, operational, and support teams. With over 2,500 clinics and hospitals in 20 countries and around 41,000 employees, we work together to care for around 25,000 animals every day. United by a shared purpose - Healthy Animals, Happy Owners - we’re proud to champion long-term animal health and welfare through the dedication of every individual across our international network.
State of art equipment. We offer modern technology such as digital x-ray, state of the art dental x-ray and facilities, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, K-laser, multi-parameter machines and specialised ophthalmology equipment. We are a gold standard cat friendly practice with a separate cat ward and cat theatre. We are the only clinic in the area to provide our own out of hours service and therefore, can offer consistency in patient care and are able to see an abundance of different cases that can allow our vets to keep developing their skills in both surgery or medicine.
Join our supportive team. We are a very friendly, close-knit team who enjoy doing social activities outside of work as much as we can. These have included archery, pub and dog walks, curry nights, theatre trips and a hog roast. We focus strongly on positive mental health and wellbeing, emphasising the importance of talking to each other and helping each other.
CPD is encouraged; we have many certificate holders in practice, some who have done their training whilst working here, focusing on disciplines such as advanced surgery, advanced veterinary care, anaesthesia, behaviour and ophthalmology. We also have vets who are especially interested in Chiropractic, imaging, orthopaedics and internal medicine. We pride ourselves on being an excellent training practice for nurses.
What can we offer. Full-time, part-time and flexible hours would all be considered. A working day can include different shift patterns ranging from starting at 8am with an early finish at 1pm and late shifts starting at 11am and finishing at 7pm with a 1 in 5 weekend rota. When our vets are on call they do not need to be on-site apart from 8:30am-12:30pm Saturday morning. We offer a generous incentive for out of hours work and time off is granted following on call shifts (dependent on working hours). We offer a very good holiday entitlement and a day in lieu for working a bank holiday. Relocation package and welcome bonus would also be considered for the right candidate.
