Small Animal or Mixed Veterinary Surgeon
Knockanboy Veterinary Clinic | Coleraine & Dervock, Northern Ireland
Full-Time, Permanent
Salary up to £60,000 DOE
A Great Veterinary Role, a Great Team, and Always a Good Cup of Tea
If you're looking for a veterinary role where you'll be supported, trusted and genuinely enjoy coming to work each day, we'd love to hear from you.
We're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team at Knockanboy Veterinary Clinic, working across our practices in Coleraine and Dervock. Whether you're a dedicated Small Animal Vet or a Mixed Vet who enjoys keeping a hand in farm work, we're happy to shape the role around the right person.
Our practices are busy, well-established and deeply rooted within the local community. You'll find a welcoming team, loyal clients, interesting caseloads and a genuinely supportive environment where people look out for one another. We're also serious about two things here: excellent patient care and making sure the kettle is always on. Tea and coffee are never in short supply and are very much part of the culture across both sites.
Why Join Knockanboy?
You’ll become part of a team of 13 vets, spanning small animal, farm and mixed practice, supported by an experienced team of Registered Veterinary Nurses and a dedicated support team who keep everything running smoothly.
Collaboration is a huge part of life here. Whether you're discussing a complex case, developing a clinical interest or simply looking for a second opinion, there is always someone happy to help. We value teamwork, kindness and creating an environment where everyone can do their best work while still enjoying their day.
Located on Northern Ireland’s stunning North Coast, you'll have beautiful beaches, coastal walks, countryside and outdoor adventures right on your doorstep, all while enjoying a relaxed pace of life and a strong sense of community.
The Role
This position is based across our Coleraine and Dervock sites, with a predictable rota designed to provide consistency wherever possible. We aim to offer fixed days off each week to help with work-life balance and planning outside of work.
The role is based on a 35‑hour week worked across four days, with typical shifts running from 9:00am to 6:30pm. There is a shared Saturday rota of 1 in 4 Saturdays from 9:00am until 1:00pm.
You’ll also take part in our shared small animal out‑of‑hours rota, currently around 1 in 10 weekends and weeknights, alongside a neighbouring IVC practice. To recognise this commitment, we provide a full day off in lieu following an on‑call weekend, giving you time to recharge.
For vets with an interest in mixed practice, we’re fortunate to have a dedicated farm team in Dervock and can offer exposure tailored to your interests. Whether you'd like to maintain your mixed skills or gradually increase your farm caseload, we’re happy to have that conversation.
Flexible working arrangements can also be considered. Once weekend and on‑call commitments are covered, we’re open to discussing schedules that work for both you and the team.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a friendly, approachable Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys building relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
You might be an experienced vet looking for a fresh challenge, or someone earlier in your career who values support and mentorship. What’s most important is a positive attitude, a team‑focused approach and a commitment to delivering excellent patient care.
You must be RCVS registered, or eligible for RCVS registration.
Interested?
We’d love to tell you more about the role, the team and life at Knockanboy. If you’re looking for a supportive practice where you can build your career while enjoying everything the North Coast has to offer, we’d be delighted to hear from you.
