The role includes developing aligned training methods, athletic development standards, and individual development plans, using performance data to optimise readiness, recovery, injury prevention, and coach-facing recommendations. It also includes leadership of a multidisciplinary team, practitioner development, departmental operations, testing, budget management, SOP governance, and performance system improvement.
This role appears to align with IQF Level 7, as it involves leading and integrating physical preparation, performance science, and nutrition services across the Academy and Women’s programme. These responsibilities indicate advanced scientific practitioner capability, interdisciplinary leadership, system development, and responsibility for the decision quality of other practitioners.
Salary is not disclosed, so full salary and role alignment cannot be assessed. However, this is a senior Level 7 role requiring a postgraduate degree, recognised accreditation or S&C qualification, professional football experience, experience leading support staff, interdisciplinary leadership, and responsibility for departmental systems, budget, governance, and performance standards.
IUSCA recommended minimum salary: £55,000 per year. This minimum recommendation reflects the Level 7 classification, the postgraduate qualification requirement, the leadership of physical preparation, performance science, and nutrition across Academy and Women’s programmes, and the responsibility for staff development, performance systems, budget management, SOP governance, and interdisciplinary decision-making.
A higher salary may be appropriate if the role carries senior departmental authority, multi-site responsibility, strategic budget control, or substantial responsibility for long-term club performance strategy.
