Job Description

The Software Consultant is a customer facing technical expert and trusted advisor who ensures customers proactively adopt, use, and gain value from our software solutions. The role blends deep truss‑design expertise with strong consulting, delivery, and commercial skills. Beyond supporting existing products, the Software Consultant proactively helps bring new software to market by shaping launch readiness, introducing new solutions to customers, and supporting sales through technical discovery from quote to ship to deployment.

Due to the customer facing elements of this role, regional travel within the UK up to 60% will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor, addressing customer challenges across truss design, engineering, and manufacturing with a fast, accountable, customer‑first approach.
  • Build strong, long‑term relationships through practical, solution‑led engagement.
  • Lead customer onboarding for both new and existing software solutions.
  • Run demonstrations, workshops, and feature walkthroughs that clearly show value and application.
  • Support the launch of new software by acting as the technical link between customers, sales, and development, preparing customers with clear explanations of benefits, workflows, and practical application.
  • Drive successful adoption by introducing new products to existing customers, managing transition and change, and providing technical credibility during new customer evaluations and rollout.
  • Support the sales team with pipeline creation by participating in early‑stage customer discovery and technical qualification.
  • Take accountability for the quote to ship discovery process.
  • Collaborate closely with commercial and delivery teams to ensure expectations are accurately set and met.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot software and workflow issues across truss design and production, taking full ownership through resolution while engaging and redirecting to the relevant internal teams and keeping customers clearly informed.
  • Advocate for customer needs by routing feedback to the appropriate product, engineering, or support teams, ensuring issues and pain points influence priorities and improvements.
  • Travel within the UK up to 60% of the time.

Skills & Experience

  • 3‑5 years in truss design (roof and/or floor systems) with hands‑on experience using, supporting, or implementing truss or structural design software.
  • Experience in a customer facing technical, consultancy, or solutions role is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to support both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness, with the ability to support presales and discovery activities.
  • Experience supporting software launches or go‑to‑market activities and working closely with sales or commercial teams is highly desirable.
  • Experience delivering customer training and onboarding is desirable.
  • Knowledge of offsite construction or manufacturing environments not essential but highly beneficial.

Core Competencies

  • Customer Focus: Deep understanding of customer pain points and business pressures.
  • Technical Credibility: Builds trust through truss design and software expertise.
  • Consultative Selling: Supports sales through insight‑led discovery and solution shaping.
  • Ownership & Accountability: Takes responsibility from discovery through delivery.
  • Collaboration: Works seamlessly across technical, commercial, and development teams.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Attractive compensation package.
  • Life insurance x6 times pensionable salary.
  • Employer pension contributions up to 11%.
  • EAP and access to virtual GP.
  • Company car to be provided for this position.
  • Enhanced family leave.
  • Company sickness pay scheme and Group Income Protection (GIP).
