Position Summary
The Assistant Controller will help achieve and optimise Offsite Europe profitability through accurate financial data, challenging the status quo and driving strategic initiatives. Reporting to the Financial Controller for Offsite Europe, this role is critical in producing monthly reporting, completing journals and reconciliations, and supporting ad‑hoc projects. The role also assists the wider finance team with AP/AR ledger processing and aims for timely, accurate accounting information, sound financial controls, and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Complete month‑end procedures and monthly management accounts.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare quarterly forecasts and the annual plan.
- Maintain accruals and pre‑payments.
- Process payroll journals and coordinate statutory reporting with HR.
- Prepare monthly journals.
- Submit VAT and customs returns and provide tax analysis.
- Maintain systems, ensure data accuracy and adherence to policies.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external audit policies.
- Lead or support finance projects that drive efficiency or profitability.
- Collaborate with functional managers to provide requested information.
- Support profitability improvements and simplification through data analysis.
- Participate in cross‑functional business improvement projects.
- Act as a role model for ITW Business Model, Culture & Values.
Person Specification (Essential)
- Bachelor’s degree and/or financial professional qualification (ACCA/CIMA part‑qualified).
- Experience working within a finance team with demonstrable collaboration.
- Strong numeric and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and formulas.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent organisational ability and proven track record of meeting deadlines.
Experience (Desired)
- Experience in a manufacturing and/or construction related business.
