ITV Signpost is an award-winning production unit in the North East of England that is part of ITV, producing more than 1,500 hours of content every year for broadcasters, businesses, commercial brands and digital channels. We are currently looking for a Technical Production Specialist based in Gateshead. This role will work as part of a team operating a broad variety of technical equipment and software to deliver broadcast quality British Sign Language translations for ITV and other channels/platforms. They will also be required to work on a variety of bespoke projects for external clients.
This role requires multiple skills across various production roles to meet the demands of the business and contribute to our creative productions.
Key Responsibilities- Operation of a broad range of technical studio equipment, including broadcast cameras, studio lighting, vision mixers and playback/ingest servers
- Monitoring of production recordings to meet required industry technical standards
- Adherence to ITV and Signpost’s production procedures and policies
- To understand and deliver to Ofcom’s Television Access codes and guidelines
- Work with media assets through ITV Signpost’s media management systems, ensuring accuracy of information at all times in respect of logging, tracking, delivery and archive of material
- Edit Signpost content using a variety of editing packages, specifically the Adobe Production suite
- Create accurate subtitles for internal and external content
- Video encoding and transcoding
- Work with a broad range of media publishing/delivery platforms
- Secure file transfer of media assets
- Research material content and specific project work as required
- Practical experience of operating video and audio kit in studio or other environments to produce professional material.
- Experience and knowledge of encoding, transcoding and transferring digital assets
- Previous relevant work for a media company
- A relevant media qualification or equivalent experience
- A recognised English qualification to A level standard
- Good understanding of digital and social media production techniques
- Desirable - a BSL qualification or a keen willingness to learn BSL
- Attention to detail in all aspects of work and ability to check and regulate own standard of work with an organised and methodical approach.
- The ability to work alone, using own initiative as well as being an effective team player and good communicator.
- Proactive organisational skills with the ability to time manage and prioritise workloads, delivering to tight deadlines and adhering to schedules.
- Work with sensitive and/or confidential content from a variety of clients in a discreet and confidential manner.
- A strong commitment to social inclusion, accessibility and diversity.
- Self-motivated to be multi-skilled and prepared to invest time to learn and develop new skills.
- Broad-based general knowledge and be familiar with conventional sources of reference and the internet for research.
You will be a member of a multi-skilled team of D/deaf and hearing professionals producing on-screen sign language translation. Signpost may schedule work across a seven-day week in order to meet business requirements. Work outside normal office hours at different locations may be required to meet delivery schedules.
