The Vision Operator / Engineer will support Coronation Street production by ensuring high‑quality picture output on studio and location shoots. The role reports to the Vision Lead and Technical Manager and is responsible for operating video servers and ingest devices, assessing visual and audio quality, and maintaining broadcast standards and visual continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire and deliver studio and on‑location images that meet strict broadcast standards.
  • Operate video and audio technology, including cameras, camera control units, and video ingest systems.
  • Independently manage the end‑to‑end vision chain from camera sensors and CCUs to final ingest.
  • Assess and correct colourimetry and exposure to match the lighting director’s vision.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments, including cast and crew.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 months experience in a studio production environment with knowledge of video and audio technologies.
  • Engineering qualification in Electronics or related field (HND/degree level).
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast cameras, camera control units, and video systems.
  • Solid understanding of SDI and IP‑based broadcast technologies.
  • Ability to qualitatively assess and correct colourimetry of video images.
  • Strong communication skills.
