To assist and support the Costume Supervisor and the wider team in everyday costume matters, ensuring all artists are dressed and ready prior to location/studio filming; to prepare costumes and costume changes for the filming day and to be present on-set as required; to assist the Costume Supervisor with any final adjustments required ensuring costumes are correct for filming and continuity purposes; to return all costumes to the department at the end of each filming day.
Skills You’ll Need (minimum Criteria)
- Minimum 6 months experience working in the costume department on a TV continuing drama.
- Professional qualification demonstrating creative ability i.e., Costume Design, Textiles, Art and Fashion.
- Familiarity with call sheets, costume plots and schedules.
- Ability to sew and carry out minor alterations to costume.
- Knowledge of how to care for and clean fabrics & clothing.
- Keen attention to detail to ensure continuity.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to communicate with multiple departments.
- Understanding of the importance of set etiquette.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining focused for long periods of time.
- Ability to work under pressure and to be at ease with making on-the-spot decisions.
- Willingness to train and share skills and knowledge with less experienced members of the department.
- Computer skills including Gmail, Google Drive, Mac, iPad & PDF Expert.
