The team step onto the cobbles and bring Coronation Street to life, seeking a skilled Vision Operator / Engineer to capture stunning, well-balanced images on set and on location. You can be part of shaping the show's iconic look, delivering broadcast-ready quality with precision, consistency, and creativity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the acquisition of high quality picture output in studio and on location shoots for the Coronation Street production. Reporting to the Vision Lead and Technical Manager, the candidate will be a well-rounded Vision Operator / Engineer that can perform independently and deliver carefully exposed and colour balanced images, in line with the Lighting Director's overall vision. They are able to correctly operate video servers and ingest devices and technically assess the visual and audio output quality. Managing the end-to-end vision chain - from camera sensors and CCUs to final ingest. The primary objective is to ensure all captured media on the studio floor and external lot meets stringent broadcast standards while maintaining the show's established visual continuity and 'look.'
Skills you'll need (minimum criteria):
- Minimum 12 months experience in a studio production environment with working knowledge of video and audio technologies.
- Ideally, an Engineering qualification in Electronics (or similar) to HND/Degree level.
- Strong knowledge of broadcast cameras, camera control units (CCUs), and video systems.
- Solid understanding of SDI and IP-based broadcast technologies.
- Must have the ability to qualitatively assess and correct the colourimetry of video images.
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate with all departments, including cast and crew.
