The team: The Coronation Street technical team delivers comprehensive first and second-line support across studio, post-production, and location environments. From technical operations, maintenance and key engineering roles, they ensure seamless operations while driving innovation through the design and implementation of technical projects.
The role: This role provides comprehensive technical support for all production areas (studios, technical infrastructure, post-production, and locations). Responsibilities include workshop duties, fault finding and repairs, technical maintenance and routine housekeeping. First-line support for technical vehicles, including rigger/driver duties. Occasional Vision Engineer/Operator cover, and operational +1 engineer duties for location filming. Working closely with suppliers and manufacturers of technical equipment to resolve service, repair and warranty issues. The individual must also keep up-to-date with emerging technologies.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria):
- Technical industry experience.
- Broadcast/TV production industry experience is desirable.
- HND/degree or equivalent (or currently studying) in Electronic Engineering is desirable.
- Knowledge of Broadcast engineering systems used throughout the production chain is desirable.
- Applied experience of Post Production systems is desirable.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with an ability to build successful working relationships at all levels.
- Must be able to work as part of a team.
- An ability to assess accurately the likely time taken to resolve a fault or breakdown so production staff & clients can be advised correctly.
- Ability and flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
- Commitment to good working practices ensuring no compromise of standards or quality of work.
- Resilience and the ability to work under pressure.
- IT skills, involving networking.
- An excellent understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace.
- Influencing and persuading skills desired.
- Full, clean driving licence (or equivalent arrangements as part of a reasonable adjustment where a disability has been disclosed).

- Service excellence: To recognise and embrace customer needs and identify ways of adding value. To consistently achieve and exceed required delivery standards and customer expectations.
This role requires a dedicated team approach where accommodating production/client requirements involves being available as and when required. This could involve working outside office hours and/or being contactable when necessary. Long working days likely to include evenings, weekends and public holidays. Short notice changes to work schedules. Short notice cover for work colleagues. May have to work across multiple locations or departments within a day.
