The role We are looking for a talented and passionate Engineering Manager (Data) to lead and inspire a team of data engineers in building robust, scalable, and high-quality data solutions. As a leader, you will work closely with engineers, platform teams, and business stakeholders to ensure the delivery of impactful data-driven outcomes. What You’ll Do:
- Manage and develop a team of data engineers, supporting their career growth and technical development.
- Lead the delivery of complex data engineering projects, ensuring they are on time, within scope, and of the highest quality.
- Drive the design and implementation of data pipelines and architectures, ensuring they align with business needs and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Champion engineering excellence, with a focus on data quality, observability, and performance optimisation.
- Keep the team updated with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering to maintain a competitive edge.
- Ensure the team follows modern development practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and well-architected code delivery.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams, with a strong focus on coaching and mentoring engineers.
- Hands-on expertise in PySpark and modern data platforms (e.g., GCP, Airflow, BigQuery).
- Deep understanding of delivering production-grade code with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Strong technical background, with experience in designing and delivering complex data engineering projects.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Passion for cultivating a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
- Experience in broadcasting or streaming is a plus.
