The team

Assist the Editorial team with the accurate processing and successful delivery of scripts (including scene synopses etc) for onward delivery to the Production Teams.

As an Editorial Assistant on Emmerdale, you will be right at the heart of our fast-paced script department!

You'll play a vital role in ensuring scripts, scene synopses, and crucial story documents flow seamlessly from writers to our production team.

The role

Power the heartbeat of Emmerdale by managing the entire script lifecycle: from writer processing to Nucleus formatting to Setkeeper publishing and crucial compliance checks!

Working hand-in-hand with script editors, directors, and production teams, you'll be at the center of the action, coordinating synopses, print distributions, and vital administrative support to bring compelling stories seamlessly from page to screen.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)

  • A basic understanding of television production through either a media course or previous experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of script writing software would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given.
  • Adaptability - Training Will be given on Nucleus and Setkeeper.
  • Due to the nature of the production absolute confidentiality is required.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and secretarial skills (including keyboard skills).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to change approach depending on the circumstances.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Ability to work under own initiative and without constant supervision including the ability to adapt to changing priorities and hitting strict deadlines.
  • Competent IT Skills. Ability to use computer systems including Microsoft Office and Google Mail/Drive/Sheets.
  • Due to the editorial process, work may sometimes back up, so a flexible approach to managing hours is required to ensure the work gets done.
