The team ITV has a mature Cloud first technology strategy that underpins all of the core business strategy pillars; Supercharge Streaming, Expand Studios, Optimise Broadcast, Digital Transformation. As we continue to increase our Cloud usage it is critical that we fully understand budgeting for Cloud and that we maximise our Investment. ITV runs a FinOps community of practice called the Cloud Business Office, which has representation from FinOps Managers in each business unit, who are each responsible for spearheading FinOps practices locally within each Division. Group Technology provides the tools, policy and expertise to ensure FinOps is delivered effectively and remains relevant to our evolving use of Cloud technologies.

The main purpose of this role is to develop, operate and enhance ITV’s Cloud Financial Management capability in order to provide:

  • Visibility of accurate, up-to-date data on ITV’s Cloud spend across multiple service providers, to be used as a basis for Technology and Product teams to take ownership of their Cloud spend, make decisions and take action to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Appropriately skilled expertise in sufficient capacity to deliver, operate and enhance existing FinOps tooling, and empower Technology teams to maximise the value of Cloud expenditure using that tooling.
  • ITV’s CFM policies, processes and tools for Technology teams to use in managing Cloud expenditure.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of FinOps in all FinOps strategy, planning and governance activities.
  • In partnership with key stakeholders, and at the direction of the Head of FinOps, develop and maintain the FinOps operating model, policies, processes and capabilities.
  • Act as the FinOps Manager for Group Technology, ensuring cost efficiency for all centrally developed Cloud products.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards that include cloud spend, utilisation, optimisation and KPIs.
  • Develop, maintain and report against a set of operational KPIs to ensure the CFM operating model continues to be effective.
  • Perform analysis and provide recommendations based on data to improve efficiencies and maximise investment in Cloud.
  • Drive adoption of FinOps culture across Technology teams, both Central and Divisional.
  • Provide internal communications to Technology Directors, the Cloud Business Office and product teams.
  • Working with Group Technology’s Business Change Team, develop training needs, new training material and deliver to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain tooling to support the FinOps function, including selection of appropriate SaaS services, Cloud native cost management tools and home grown data analytics and visualisation platforms.
  • Manage day-to-day partnership with FinOps services and tooling suppliers.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between FinOps Managers, key ITV stakeholders, Cloud vendors and suppliers.
  • Coordinate inputs, requirements and priorities from across all stakeholder groups for private pricing agreements with Cloud suppliers.
  • Evaluate recommendations on Cloud commitment optimisation and present to the Cloud Business Office for review and approval.
  • Run the day-to-day FinOps service, responding to FinOps queries, resolving support tickets and working through service requests.
  • Manage the FinOps product development backlog, prioritising work in consultation with the Head of FinOps and the Cloud Business Office.
  • Maintain all FinOps design and operational documentation, and maintain the FinOps knowledge base.

Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria):

  • Strong foundational knowledge of Cloud platforms, technologies and cost drivers.
  • Strong Cloud cost management and optimisation knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Cloud pricing models.
  • Experience and working knowledge of native cloud cost management tooling.
  • Low/No-code application/workflow development platforms experience, e.g. Glide, Bubble, AppSheet, Airtable.
  • Low/No-code integration tools experience, e.g. Make, Zapier.
  • Data visualisation and analytics tools experience, e.g. Looker, Tableau, Power BI.
  • A level of technical competence relating to architectural, security and service quality principles of Cloud in order to perform effective analysis and provide well informed recommendations.
  • Ability to build effective and trusting stakeholder relationships whilst ensuring compliance to centrally managed policies.
  • Strong service management experience.
  • Experience of working in a devolved technology operating model where business divisions maintain their own technology teams and are responsible for ROI.

Other things we’re looking for (key criteria):

  • Previous experience in a Cloud cost analytics role.
  • FinOps Certified Cloud Practitioner certification.
  • 3rd party FinOps tool experience, such as Cloudhealth, Flexera, Apptio.
  • Data engineering and transformation experience, e.g. BigQuery, PostgreSQL, Cloud Composer/Apache Airflow, Matillion.
  • Coding and configuration management experience, e.g. Python, Github.
  • Experience of FinOps in a Multicloud environment.
  • AWS and GCP cloud practitioner certification.
  • Ability to drive cultural change across the organisation through effective communications and partnering with product teams.
  • Project and product management experience.
  • Experience of Cloud environments where usage regularly fluctuates.
  • Wider FinOps industry knowledge and trends such as the expansion of FinOps beyond Cloud into SaaS, GreenOps and Technology Business Management.
