Overview
London – On-site working required (to be discussed with placement line manager).
This rotational traineeship gives broad exposure to the full production process across unscripted television.
You will rotate across teams and gain hands-on experience from development through to delivery, including casting, research, production logistics, studio, location shoots, and post-production workflows.
You will learn about compliance, safeguarding, rights and clearances, risk assessments, and the use of emerging technologies and AI tools in modern production environments.
Responsibilities
- Support teams in the production office, on location or in studio environments; assist with researching stories, contributors and locations for programmes.
- Assist with casting, fact-checking and editorial research; contribute to development projects, creative brainstorms and programme ideas.
- Support shoots, production logistics, schedules and production paperwork; learn compliance and safeguarding responsibilities.
- Gain experience with rights, clearances, risk assessments and production processes; learn how content moves through post-production, media management and editing workflows.
- Develop technical skills through practical experience and shadowing crew; explore how emerging technologies and AI tools are used in production.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of how television or screen production works from development through to delivery.
- Collaborate with others across departments; communicate ideas clearly and professionally; stay organised and detail-oriented.
- Be proactive in learning across multiple areas of production and adapt to changing priorities.
- Approach tasks calmly in fast-moving environments and maintain reliability and a positive attitude.
- Engage with inclusive storytelling that connects with diverse audiences and stay curious about the future of TV and production technologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Interest in unscripted television, storytelling and how programmes are developed and produced.
- Experience working collaboratively in work, education, volunteering or personal project environments; clear communication skills.
- A willingness to learn across different departments and try new things.
- Interest in technology, digital tools or emerging media trends; basic awareness of AI demonstrated through personal projects, courses or a degree.
- A demonstrable ability to pivot between tasks and roles with a self-starting attitude.
- A calm, proactive approach in busy environments; strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to stay organised; reliability and professionalism.
- Appreciation for diverse perspectives and inclusive storytelling.
- Comfort with adapting quickly when priorities change; interest in using AI tools and curiosity about broader industry trends (e. g., Virtual Production).

Over nine months, you will become a multi-skilled Production Assistant, rotating across different teams, working with industry professionals and discovering your strengths in the fast-moving world of TV.
You will receive support from a dedicated ITV Academy Lead and Buddy throughout the programme.
There is no standing on the sidelines—real experience from day one.
