Responsibilities
- Produce and publish political digital content—mainly social video—at the highest level of quality, ensuring it is accurate and compliant.
- Plan, interview, and create engaging content for social platforms, including writing, editing and headline creation.
- Collaborate with regional political correspondents and editors, assigning crews and coordinating production across multiple newsrooms.
- Maintain a small administrative component, such as managing crew rosters and booking occasional travel.
- Generate creative solutions for presenting content online and respond effectively under tight deadlines and pressurised newsroom conditions.
Qualifications
- NCTJ qualification or equivalent, and proven experience as a trained journalist.
- Experience running a political newsdesk and knowledge of ITV’s Legal & Compliance, ITV Trust and OFCOM guidelines.
- Proficiency in video production: shooting, editing in Premiere Pro, and post‑production of photos and graphics.
- Strong political knowledge and the ability to create content that appeals to a diverse, UK‑wide audience.
- Experience with Wolftech or similar planning tools is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, team‑player mentality, and the ability to prioritise work and meet deadline pressure.
