We are seeking an experienced Telecom Project Manager to support the delivery of critical telecommunications infrastructure projects across the SPEN Telecoms Network programme. The role focuses on managing telecoms delivery within substations and supporting UK Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) initiatives. The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end project delivery activities including planning, procurement, stakeholder management, engineering coordination, and telecoms infrastructure implementation. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite attendance in Glasgow for approximately 8 days per month.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate telecoms infrastructure projects across SPEN substations.
- Develop, maintain, and track detailed project plans and resource schedules.
- Coordinate engineering teams including design, commissioning, field, and project delivery functions.
- Manage procurement activities including ordering, tracking, and delivery coordination of telecoms equipment.
- Oversee delivery and implementation of telecoms technologies including IP, MPLS-TP, PDH/SDH, fibre, and civils works.
- Coordinate installation and delivery activities with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular project progress updates.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with quality and compliance standards.
- Support delivery within highly regulated UK Critical National Infrastructure environments.
- Coordinate BT Openreach EAD circuit-related activities and dependencies.
- Maintain project governance documentation, reporting, and risk management activities.
Required Skills:
- Proven experience managing telecommunications infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of telecoms network technologies including IP Solutions, MPLS-TP Solutions, PDH/SDH Solutions, Fibre and Civils delivery, and BT Openreach EADs.
- Experience working within utility, energy, or Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) environments.
- Strong project planning, delivery coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, commissioning, design, and field teams.
- Experience managing telecoms equipment procurement and delivery coordination.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Eligible for SC Clearance.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with onsite attendance in Glasgow required.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience delivering telecoms projects within substations or power networks.
- Familiarity with SPEN or utility-sector telecoms standards and environments.
- Knowledge of operational telecoms networks within energy infrastructure.
- Experience with regulated infrastructure delivery programmes.
- PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent project management certification.
- Strong understanding of telecoms commissioning and deployment processes.
