itsu [grocery] is looking for a senior sustainability advisor to join its procurement team. They will develop our already established ESG strategy and ensure best in class for our sourcing policies across human rights, animal welfare, high-risk ingredients, and carbon emissions. They will be responsible for the training, understanding, and adherence of our policies both internally to relevant teams and externally to our suppliers. They need to be truly passionate about sustainability and able to work collaboratively on a range of initiatives with both near and long-term targets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the development and delivery of itsu [grocery]'s sustainability strategy
  • Own our sourcing policies that cover human rights, animal welfare and high-risk ingredients for existing and new products
  • Manage traceabilities to ensure our sourcing standards are upheld for the high-risk ingredients in the products we buy
  • Monitor emerging legislation or retailer requirements to advise on and adapt our policies ahead of time
  • Own our carbon emissions tool and deliver our annual carbon reporting helping with ongoing development and delivery of our decarbonisation plan
  • Create and manage clear KPIs with our suppliers to monitor their progress on sustainability measures
  • Work with our product development teams to ensure our new product sourcing aligns with business sustainability goals and targets
  • Deliver presentations, training workshops, and engagement sessions to support understanding and adoption of sustainability initiatives and report on KPI progress

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a sustainability role working across a breadth of ESG initiatives
  • Great organisation skills & ability to communicate effectively as part of a team & with suppliers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying stakeholders at one time
  • High level of data accuracy and written comprehension
  • The energy and self-motivation to work pro-actively within a rapidly growing business that is constantly evolving with changing priorities
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet targets & deadlines
  • A passion for sustainability and our no planet B ethos
  • An open-minded approach to the role and a flexible, can do, friendly attitude
