Based out of Saffron Walden

Long-term temp role (6 Months)

The Opportunity:

  • We are seeking an experienced Technical Surveyor to support a housing maintenance and property services team on an interim 6-month contract basis
  • This role will focus on diagnosing property defects, damp and mould issues, surveying void and occupied properties, and overseeing specialist remedial works across a social housing portfolio
  • The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and practical building knowledge to identify not only defects themselves, but also the underlying causes and building failures contributing to issues such as damp, condensation, water ingress and disrepair

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake property inspections across occupied homes, voids and specialist repair projects
  • Diagnose building defects, damp, mould, condensation and water ingress issues
  • Identify root causes and recommend appropriate remedial solutions
  • Produce technical reports, specifications and schedules of works
  • Review and validate contractor quotations and Schedule of Rates (SORs) submissions
  • Monitor contractor workmanship and quality standards on site
  • Liaise with residents, contractors and council stakeholders professionally and effectively
  • Support delivery of responsive repairs, specialist works and void property programmes
  • Ensure works comply with housing standards, health & safety and relevant legislation
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and photographic evidence

About You:

  • Proven experience as a Technical Surveyor, Building Surveyor or Repairs Surveyor within social housing or property maintenance
  • Strong building pathology and building construction knowledge
  • Experience diagnosing damp, mould and condensation issues within residential properties
  • Good understanding of Schedule of Rates (SORs) within social housing maintenance
  • Experience surveying occupied and void properties
  • Ability to identify root causes of defects and recommend practical solutions
  • Strong contractor management and communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
