Long term temp-to-perm role covering a voids contract in the Reading and surrounding areas.
- A van and fuel will be offered when the role moves to a permanent position, so in between time materials will be delivered to site/void you are working in.
- During the temp period you will only need to get to the location you are working at with your tools; you will not need to carry materials to site.
- Parking is available at the location you will be working at.
You will be working for an established Maintenance Contractor within the in-house maintenance delivery team who carry out repairs, planned works and voids to the organisation's extensive housing stock. This role will be working within their voids team covering RG postcodes.
You must have a full UK driving licence.Key elements of the role and your responsibilities:
- You will be working in RG postcodes.
- Focus on turning around void (empty) properties in a safe and timely manner, achieving a finish to be proud of.
- Demonstrate a core skilled trade, for example carpentry, plumbing or a wet trade, and the ability to undertake a range of multi-trade duties including:
- Like for like plumbing works
- Tiling (mainly splash backs)
- Painting and decorating
- Patch plastering
- 2nd fix internal carpentry
- Kitchen fitting
- Bathroom upgrades
- General property maintenance
What you need to bring to the role as the successful applicant:
- NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 in at least one trade or the ability to show that you are “time served”.
- Your own 110v power tools and hand tools.
- Basic IT skills as you will be using a PDA.
- SOR codes knowledge is desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of maintenance repair works.
- Previous experience of social housing repairs, voids, or planned works.
- Adhere to company health and safety guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
- Problem solving and decision making.
- Attention to detail.
- Accountability and initiative.
- Flexibility and adaptability.

- ÂŁ25 - ÂŁ26 per hour.
