We are currently recruiting for an experienced Painter to join a specialist Damp & Mould maintenance team working across residential properties in South Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, skilled and motivated Painter who is confident delivering high-quality decorating works within occupied and void homes.
You will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of internal painting and finishing, including preparation, repair, and aftercare following damp and mould treatments.
The role offers consistent work, a supportive team environment, and the use of a company van and fuel card throughout the assignment.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in delivering a professional finish, is comfortable working in domestic properties, and has experience managing their own workload across a set patch.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Completing internal painting and decorating tasks, ensuring a high-quality, long-lasting finish.
- Preparing surfaces thoroughly, including sanding, filling, sealing, stain-blocking and minor remedial prep work.
- Ensuring treated areas affected by damp or mould are fully restored to a clean and professional standard.
- Identifying and reporting any further property issues to supervisors or surveyors.
- Managing your daily workload effectively, completing work within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Maintaining excellent customer service while working in occupied homes, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants.
- Using materials efficiently and ensuring your van and tools are kept in good working condition.
- Following company Health & Safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Liaising with operatives and supervisors to ensure smooth delivery of works across the patch.
- Travelling across the South Birmingham area in a company-provided vehicle.
- Proven background as a Painter or Painter & Decorator.
- Strong preparation skills, including all aspects of surface repair and finishing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Confidence working in residential, occupied properties.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage your workload.
- Full UK Driving Licence (van and fuel card provided), no more than 5 points.
- Experience working in social housing environments.
- Experience working on properties affected by damp and mould.
- Additional basic multi-trade skills such as filling, patch plastering or sealing.
- Understanding of Damp & Mould repair standards and aftercare requirements.
- Competitive hourly rate of £18 – £19 per hour.
- 12-week temporary assignment with potential for extension.
- Company van and fuel card provided.
- Work across a dedicated local Birmingham patch – no long travel.
