We are currently seeking an experienced Carpenter Multi-Trader to join a busy social housing maintenance team working across properties in the Northampton area, so daily travel is essential in this area and the surrounding areas.

This is a long-term fixed term contract position carrying out a mixture of day-to-day repairs, planned works, and general maintenance within occupied and void properties.

The ideal candidate will be a strong 2nd Fix Carpenter with reliable multi-trade skills and the ability to work independently, delivering high-quality repairs to a good standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completing carpentry repairs, renewals and installations in occupied properties
  • Undertaking multi-trade works including:
    • Plumbing repairs (like-for-like)
    • Tiling (mainly splashbacks)
    • Patch plastering
    • Painting & decorating
    • General domestic repairs
  • Working towards a first-time fix wherever possible
  • Planning and managing your own daily workload to meet contract SLAs
  • Logging works accurately on a PDA and completing daily job sheets
  • Ensuring all work meets high standards of safety and quality
  • Providing a professional, respectful service to tenants
  • Reporting any additional or follow-on works required
  • Maintaining van stock, equipment and materials
  • Working independently or as part of a team when required

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working in occupied residential settings
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence (max 6 points)
  • Ability to work independently across a dispersed housing patch

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous social housing repairs experience
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery OR time-served equivalent
  • Experience using a PDA
  • Understanding of responsive repairs and maintenance environments
  • Knowledge of SOR codes
