ITS Property Maintenance are recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join an established and growing property maintenance contractor on a permanent employment contract. You will be working across the organisation's properties and sites, maintaining communal external areas and domestic grounds, gardens and communal external spaces to a high standard. This is a practical, physically active role involving both grounds/garden maintenance and driving a company van, so previous experience within grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening or a similar outdoor role would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is essential as you’ll be working in the RG and GU postcodes of North Hampshire. The company van will be collected from the Farnborough depot each morning and returned at the end of each working day, so you must be able to reliably travel to Farnborough.

Your Key Duties:

  • Grass cutting and general lawn maintenance
  • Hedge and shrub cutting
  • Border and garden maintenance
  • Leaf clearance and litter picking
  • General site and communal area clearance
  • Garden and waste clearance work
  • Soft landscaping and minor grounds works
  • Using hand tools and powered horticultural machinery
  • Loading and unloading tools, equipment and green waste
  • Driving a company van between properties and sites
  • Reporting hazards, defects or other issues to management
  • Ensuring sites and external communal areas are left clean, tidy and safe
  • Using a handheld PDA/mobile device to record completed visits and works – training provided

What's Needed From You:

  • Full UK driving licence – maximum 6 points
  • No alcohol-related or similar serious driving endorsements
  • Ideally aged 25+ for company vehicle insurance purposes, although applicants aged 21+ can be considered subject to insurer approval
  • Previous grounds maintenance, gardening, landscaping or similar practical experience
  • Experience using grounds maintenance machinery and equipment would be advantageous
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors throughout the year
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable using a PDA/mobile device

Hours, Salary & Employment:

  • Β£31,200 starting salary
  • Permanent employment contract
  • 40 hours per week
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm with 1-hour unpaid break
  • 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays
  • Holiday year runs 1 January – 31 December, pro-rated during the first year
  • Company van supplied for work purposes
  • Van collected and returned to the Farnborough depot each day
  • Employment subject to satisfactory references, Right to Work checks and DBS
  • 6-month probationary period
