Working for a Maintenance Contractor based out of Saffron Walden (CB11 4LH)

Long-term temp role | Social Housing Maintenance Role

Covering a geographical area covering CB10, CB11, CM22, CM23, and CM24

Own van would be the preference, but business mileage will be paid weekly. If you don’t have your own transport, please still apply as a hire option could be available.

Working in occupied properties carrying out repairs and maintenance on Local Authority properties directly for an in-house contractor team.

Due to a contract win, we are looking to increase their in-house workforce with a new Carpenter Multi-Trader who will be working on domestic repairs covering a work area around CB10, CB11, CM22, CM23, and CM24. Here you will be focused on day-to-day occupied repairs and maintaining properties whilst supporting other trades in their works.

Key elements of the role and your responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a core skilled trade of carpentry and the ability to undertake a range of multi-trade duties including:
  • Minor plumbing repairs
  • Tiling (mainly splash backs)
  • Painting and decorating
  • Patch plastering
  • General property maintenance

Experience of working in occupied residential properties and ideally in a domestic tenanted properties or a social housing setting.

As a Multi Skilled operative, you will deliver excellent customer service and support residents with reactive repairs and maintenance across a portfolio of properties.

Your work will be split on a job-to-job basis over a planned route with a wide range of general repairs and maintenance tasks undertaken on each job.

Work closely with schedulers and planners to meet contract SLA delivery in a timely manner.

The ability to advise your supervisor on any issues or challenges that require additional support.

Work both on your own or in a team if other trades are required to complete a repair.

Complete daily work sheets detailing work undertaken and materials used after each job undertaken.

Working in a timely and productive manner.

What you need to bring to the role as the successful applicant:

  • Strong carpentry background with the ability to carry out multi-trade works.
  • NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or the ability to show that you are “time served”.
  • Your own 110v power tools and hand tools.
  • Will be required to undertake written paperwork or use of a PDA to record jobs completed.
  • SOR codes knowledge is desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of maintenance repair works.
  • Ability to manage and carry out booked repairs in a dispersed region.
  • Previous experience of social housing repairs, voids, or planned works.
  • Adhere to company health and safety guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Show strong customer service skills due to repairs taking place in occupied properties.
  • Tidy work ethic, making sure all adjoining work areas are kept clean and damage-free.
  • Problem solving and decision making.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Accountability and initiative.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • You must have a full UK driving licence.

Hours and pay:

  • ÂŁ25 – ÂŁ28 per hour
