An exciting opportunity has arisen to oversee a frontline team of up to 15 operatives across various trades, delivering responsive repairs and maintenance services across a maintenance contractor's Housing Association and Local Authorities housing contracts.

Position Overview

  • This is a key supervisory role within the property services division, overseeing day-to-day responsive repairs and planned maintenance activities.
  • You will work directly for the contractor, ensuring tenant satisfaction, team productivity and service delivery against set KPIs.
  • You’ll be a visible presence in the field, providing leadership to operatives across multiple trades (plumbing, carpentry, decorating, etc.).
  • The role will be a mix of field-based and office coordination, with flexibility to travel across the local housing portfolio.
  • A full UK driving licence is required – a company vehicle and fuel are provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team of 10–15 multi-trade operatives delivering responsive and planned maintenance.
  • Schedule and manage repairs to ensure timely and quality resolution of tenant issues.
  • Undertake regular site visits and inspections, ensuring works are completed to specification.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and internal procedures including tool box talks, RAMS and safeguarding.
  • Work closely with internal planners, surveyors, customer services and stores to ensure effective coordination.
  • Provide accurate reporting on job status, material use and team performance via PDA and internal systems.
  • Liaise with residents, provide updates and ensure a tenant-focused approach to service delivery.
  • Support operatives with technical queries and escalate complex issues to senior management where required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by analysing trends, defects and recurring issues.
  • Ensure works adhere to agreed SORs, budgets, and timescales.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience supervising repairs or maintenance teams within a social housing or local authority environment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of property repairs and building maintenance (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, plastering).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills – able to get the best out of frontline operatives.
  • Good understanding of housing maintenance systems, KPIs and SOR-based contracts.
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with PDA or job management systems and capable of accurate record-keeping.
  • Health & safety knowledge including risk assessments and safe working practices.

Salary & Benefits
