About the Role:
A well-established Clearance Agent in Manchester Trafford Park is seeking a Customs Broker to join their in-house customs clearance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to be part of a growing business, working on import and export clearances across road freight.
The location is easily accessible, with fantastic transport links, including the Metro Link, making commuting convenient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handling Transit Declarations to ensure smooth cargo movement.
- Completing Import Road Declarations for goods arriving in the UK.
- Processing Export Road Declarations for outbound shipments.
- Managing Goods Movement References (GMRs) and Pre-Boarding Notifications (PBNs) for seamless border crossings.
- Preparing Entry Summary Declarations (ENS) in compliance with customs regulations.
- Liaising with HMRC, port authorities, and transport companies to ensure efficient customs clearance.
- Keeping up to date with Brexit-related customs changes and evolving legislation.
- Ensuring accuracy in customs documentation to prevent delays and penalties.
- Providing excellent customer service and problem-solving support for customs-related queries.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years\’ experience in a Road Freight Customs Environment.
- Strong understanding of UK and EU customs procedures, including post-Brexit regulations.
- Experience in handling import and export declarations with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via phone, email, and in person.
- Experience using Thyme IT customs software is a distinct advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of CPC codes, duty rates, and customs classifications is highly desirable.
