The role: ITS Building People are looking to hire a Trainee Recruitment Consultant to join our Southampton office within the Construction Professionals division. With over 50 years’ experience in recruitment and 18 offices across the UK, ITS is a well-established, reputable and successful recruitment business. We pride ourselves on our local market knowledge, long-standing client relationships and high standards of service delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, driven individual looking to build a long-term career within the white-collar construction recruitment sector. Full training, mentorship and career progression will be provided, with a clear pathway to Recruitment Consultant and beyond. You will work alongside experienced consultants supporting permanent and freelance recruitment across roles such as Site Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Design Managers and Commercial Managers.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Sourcing and identifying high-quality construction professionals through job boards, LinkedIn and headhunting
- Screening, interviewing and registering candidates
- Writing and advertising job vacancies
- Supporting consultants with candidate shortlists and interview coordination
- Building relationships with candidates and developing a strong market presence
- Managing candidate availability and maintaining CRM records
- Supporting business development activities and client research
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with professionals at all levels
- A competitive, ambitious and target-driven mindset
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- A professional and resilient approach
- Previous sales, customer service or office-based experience (desirable but not essential)
- A genuine interest in building a career within recruitment
