The role & about the client: ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a reputable construction firm delivering high quality construction projects. Known for its hands-on approach and commitment to excellence, the company takes pride in producing durable, well-finished work while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors. This client is looking for a Working Supervisor to join the team for a 12-15 month project. This client is looking for a candidate with a carpentry background and to be based locally or able to commute to Salisbury.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Act as the on-site lead, working hands-on while supervising daily construction activities across all four buildings
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors and labour crews to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to plan
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules to guide day-to-day work
- Ensure residential conversion work meets building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
- Plan and prioritise daily tasks to keep the project on schedule and within scope
- Monitor progress across multiple buildings and adjust manpower and sequencing as needed
- Perform and oversee carpentry, finishing, and general construction tasks as required
- Identify and resolve site issues, constructability challenges, and minor design conflicts
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised job site at all times
- Communicate regularly with project management regarding progress, delays, material needs, and risks
- Track materials, deliveries, and equipment to avoid downtime
- Conduct quality checks and address deficiencies promptly
- Support inspections and ensure readiness for milestones and final handover
- Lead by example, setting expectations for workmanship, safety, and professionalism
The ideal candidate will have:
- Supervise and participate in daily on-site construction activities
- Ensure work complies with residential building codes and standards
- Plan and sequence daily tasks to maintain project schedule
- Monitor quality of workmanship
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised job site
- Identify and resolve on-site issues and construction challenges
- Communicate progress, delays and needs to project management
- Prepare sites for inspections and milestone completion
- Forklift ticket is preferred
